Principal’s Message

Welcome, my name is Corinne Pupillo, I’m the Principal at Jacana School for Autism.

On behalf of all the staff we welcome you to explore our website.  You will learn about the extensive opportunities we provide for students and how the vision and values are bought to life through our inclusive curriculum.

In particular, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new families and trust that, working together, your experience at Jacana School for Autism will be an enjoyable and rewarding one.

Jacana School for Autism actively encourages a student-centred approach by building a positive relationship between students, parents/carers and the staff.   We value the right to be treated fairly and courteously, even under difficult situations. This includes demonstrating empathy towards one another. Everyone should feel valued and be treated with respect and has a collective responsibility to build positive, respectful relationships that promotes inclusion.

Jacana School for Autism provides an education program for all our students, with differentiated learning in all core curriculum areas based on your child’s ability. All children have the opportunity to participate in a diverse and personalised curriculum covering all the main areas including specialist programs in Visual Art, Performing Arts, Health and Physical Education and Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.

Please find attached the School Strategic Plan 2022-2025.  It’s an exciting year as our new School Strategic Plan comes to life after a rigorous school review.
Jacana School for Autism (5555) – 2022-2025 – School Strategic Plan

Our classroom teachers are dedicated and committed to developing a safe and caring learning environment in their classrooms, and endeavour to make personal attachments with their students and families.

We know that starting a new school is a major milestone for you and your child, and the start of a new phase of life for your family. With this in mind, our aim is to make the transition from preschool and other early childhood services to school as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Jacana School for Autism has a dedicated team of 120 staff that meet the needs of our 220 students.  Every student attending Jacana School for Autism is provided with a Personalized Learning Support Plan (PLSP) to ensure they are able to grow and learn to their full potential.

Many of our students have a dual enrolment, sharing their time between Jacana School for Autism and their local mainstream school. Staff at Jacana School for Autism work closely with their colleagues in other schools to ensure continuity in the provision of programs.

I would like to encourage you to participate and involve yourself in the life of Jacana School for Autism.

Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any issues or suggestions you believe will enhance your child’s enjoyment of, and success at school.

Corinne Pupillo – Principal
